Half Rupee of George VI in 1947 Without Dot

Albert Frederick Arthur George was King of the United Kingdom and the Dominions of the British Commonwealth from 1936 to 1952. He was familiar as George VI. He was concurrently the last Emperor of British Raj in India until August 1947, when the British Raj was dissolved.

During the period of George VI, half Rupee was minted in Calcutta, Bombay and Lahore in 0.917 silver, 0.500 silver and Nickel with a reeded edge and later a security edge. Standard weight was around 5.7g to 5.9g and diameter 24.0mm to 24.4mm. Edge was milled from 1938 to 1940 and 1946 to 1947; and security edge was from 1941 to 1945. There was no mint mark for Calcutta. The Bombay issues have a small dot or diamond on the reverse under the ornate (the lotus flower) near the bottom of the coin. The Lahore mint used a small "L" in the same position. When the composition switched to Nickel in 1946 a completely different reverse (an Indian tiger) was introduced.

On 1947, only Bombay mint half Rupee was minted and material was Nickel. Obverse was crowned head of the king facing left and surrounded by the lettering GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR. Obverse was with Indian tiger standing, facing left. There was a dot under 1947 in common Bombay mint half Rupee of 1947. Edge was milled. Only this type of description was found for Bombay mint half Rupee of 1947 in the book of Dilip Rajgor and Gev Kias. But another variety as Mule half Rupee was described in the book of Paul Stevens and Randy Weir. That is also Bombay mint without any mint mark (without dot); having similar Obverse, Reverse and edge with weight of 5.63g and diameter 24.3mm. I found a half Rupee of 1947 without mint mark as below photos. Weight is 5.65g and diameter is around 24.3mm. Also it has error at Obverse, in front of the head of the tiger. In numismatics, a mule is a coin minted with obverse and reverse designs which not normally seen on the same piece; these can be intentional or produced by error.
