Small Quarter Anna of George V in 1936
George Frederick Ernest Albert commonly known as George V was the King of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions and Emperor of India from 1910 to 1936. He was born during the reign of his grandmother Queen Victoria. He was the second son of Albert Edward, Prince of Wales.
During the reign of George V, quarter Anna was minted from 1911 to 1914, 1916 to 1920, 1924 to 1931 and 1933 to 1934. Material was Copper with plain edge and minted in Calcutta and Bombay.
On 1936, quarter Anna was minted in both Calcutta and Bombay. There was a raised dot below the center of the year for Bombay mint and Calcutta mint was without dot. Diameter was around 25.5 mm, thickness 1.4mm and average weight 4.85g. But I found comparatively small quarter Anna of 1936 without dot. Diameter was 25.0mm, thickness 1.0mm and weight 4.07g. Golden colour materials of this quarter Anna looks like Brass. But obverse and reverse of this quarter Anna is similar as Calcutta mint Copper quarter Anna of 1936.
