Rare Quarter Rupee of George VI in 1940

George VI, Albert Frederick Arthur George was the King of the United Kingdom and the Dominions of the British Commonwealth from 11 December 1936 until his death in 1952. On 20 January 1936, George V died and Edward ascended the throne as King Edward VIII. George VI was concurrently the last Emperor of India until August 1947, when the British Raj was dissolved.

During the period of George VI, quarter Rupee was minted in Calcutta, Bombay and Lahore. It was pure Silver on 1939, 50% fine Silver on 1940 and 1942 to 1945 and Nickle on 1946 and 1947. Diameter was between 19.0mm and 19.5mm. Edge was milled on 1939 and 1940. On 1940, dot variety was Bombay minted and no dot variety was Calcutta minted. However, I found a Copper quarter rupee of 1940 with similar dimension of Bombay minted variety. Observe, reverse, lettering and edge is also same except weight and outer edge of observe. Weight of copper quarter rupee was 2.64g. This is known as Off Metal Strike (OMS) Copper coin.
