Thick Outer Edge Rupee of George V in 1919 with Different Elephant
George V, born George Frederick Ernest Albert, served as the King of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions, as well as Emperor of India, from 1910 until 1936. He was born in the era of his grandmother, Queen Victoria, and was the second son of Albert Edward, the then Prince of Wales. During the reign of George V, Indian Rupees were minted between 1911 and 1922. From 1911 to 1920, coins were produced at both the Calcutta and Bombay mints, while in 1921 and 1922, minting continued only in Bombay. These coins featured milled edges and weighed approximately 11.6 grams on average. Their diameter ranged from 30.5 mm to 30.8 mm, and thickness around 1.9 mm. A distinct feature of the Bombay mint coins was a raised dot beneath the bottom flower, whereas Calcutta mint coins lacked this mark.
